Raintree Maths Parents app for iPhone and iPad

Raintree Maths is web-based software system for learning primary school Maths based on Singapore’s Syllabus. It aims to help primary school students to excel in their Maths studies and obtain excellent results in exams and subsequently score high marks in their PSLE in Singapore.

The system is designed based on its principle of “No Child Left Behind” and its belief of the importance of parental involvement in young children’s education. The solution caters for the needs for students either are weak or strong in Mathematics learning. Following the recommendation by the system, students with weak foundation in Maths shall obtain significant improvement in weeks of time. For students who are already doing well, the system provides them extra challenging questions to bring them to the next level.

As we that believe parental involvement is a key successful factor for young children to excel in their studies, the system provides many means and facilities to help parents assist their children. Parents who have constraints to coach their children can personally engage tutors. While the tutors use the system to coach the students, the parents can monitor students’ progress.

Based on the phenomena of many young students being disinterested and weak in Maths, the system focuses to help this group of students by allowing them to learn at their own pace, presenting abstract Maths concepts in the formats that is easier for young children to understand, providing step-by-step assistance, and encouraging them to do more practices.

For parents to be involved in education effectively, parents will have to know the school’s teaching method and schedule. The system is designed to have means for parents to be synchronized with school. They system follows Singapore MOE’ syllabus and school terms to recommend learning schedules for Singapore students.

The web-based system provides following functions:

• Learning calendar: It follows Singapore MOE’s Primary School Maths Syllabus and School Term and organizes topics in learning sequence with topics dependences incorporated. Parents can follow the calendar to teach their children.

• Weekly tasks: The learning calendar assigns weekly tasks to students in terms of topics to learn, revisions, and mock test for exam preparation.

• Mock Tests: Following Singapore’s school terms, mock tests are designed for CA1, SA1, CA2, SA2, following school’s format and standard.

• Sharpen Your Sword: Daily practice of arithmetic questions for students to build strong arithmetic capability and hence to form a solid foundation.

• Status and progress update: Students’ progress in terms of Weekly Task Completion Status, Mock Test Result, Sharpen Your Sword’s score and trend, time spent, and etc are updated to parents by mobile application’s notification, SMS, or email.
